Like a rock concert that happens to be located within a glam spa.
That’s how I would describe my experience at the Dirty Girl by Daniel Mostyn Salon in Sydney’s Newtown neighborhood. I walked into the bustling salon and immediately knew I was in good hands. That, and the fact that there is an uber long waiting list to get an appointment and the fact that they squeezed me in on a Saturday was nothing short of a miracle.
I had Kath do my color first. I brought her a photo since I feel like that is much easier than trying to explain what I wanted. She took one look at it and got busy preparing the balayage. I’ve never had this done before and hadn’t even colored my hair in almost a year so was a little nervous when I saw the bleach but I trusted her experience and her confidence was infectious. She freehand painted my locks with all the skill of a true artist and toned it to help it blend more easily into my natural hair at the roots. When the color came out it was the most amazing shades of honey and caramel you’ve ever seen!
After Kath was done she turned me over to consult with Daniel on the cut and he was extremely good about listening to what I wanted and adding suggestions based on my face shape (heart) and hair type (thin and long). Then he went to work doing some kind of magic with my one-layer, massively heat destroyed hair (I have a bit of a curling iron addiction) and when he was done creating “Dirty victoria’s secret hair” My thin strands had perked up significantly, my fringe was bangin’ and I had volume I didn’t even know was possible. It is healthy, shiny (SO important, especially after the bleaching treatment) and looks fab.
Oh, and did I mention the refreshing white wine I enjoyed while this blissful experience was taking place? Special shout-out to Dee as well for being such a help!
All in all it was a fabulous experience and since my friends are all now lusting after balayage for themselves I would call it a total success. If you haven’t visited Daniel and the glam gang over at Dirty Girl yet, you are missing out, so call in soon since this is one secret I (and the rest of Sydney with fierce hair) am not keeping!
